Bassett Creek Regional Trail Construction
Three Rivers Park District is leading a trail construction project along Golden Valley Road (CSAH 66) in Golden Valley.
The project includes construction of a new segment of the Bassett Creek Regional Trail along Golden Valley Road (CSAH 66) between Regent Avenue and Theodore Wirth Parkway, a local trail along Duluth Street (CSAH 66) from Douglas Drive (CSAH 102) to Lilac Drive and Toledo Avenue to Regent Avenue, and intersection improvements at the Noble Avenue and Hidden Lakes Parkway intersections with Golden Valley Road.
Project Updates
Update: June 8, 2026
Construction at the intersection of Lilac Drive and Duluth Street is expected to be completed by mid-June.
Construction activities between Regent Avenue and Wirth Parkway are ongoing.
- Intersection work along the north side of Golden Valley Road is nearing completion.
- Installation of concrete curb and gutter and accessible intersection ramp along the south side of Golden Valley Road is ongoing and nearing completion by late June.
- The regional trail along the south side of Golden Valley Road is getting prepared for paving in late June (weather permitting).
- Construction activities at the Hidden Lakes Parkway and Golden Valley Road intersection will be focused on the north side of Golden Valley Road through early July. Additional traffic control shift will be required as work at this intersection transitions to the south.
- Traffic control and narrow travel lanes will remain in place between Regent Avenue and Wirth Parkway as the construction effort is focused on the south side of Golden Valley Road.
Update: May 22, 2026
Lane Closure from Legend Drive to Noble Avenue Begins May 27
A full lane closure of eastbound Golden Valley Road from Legend Drive to Noble Avenue will be in place starting Wednesday, May 27.
During the closure, flaggers will direct both eastbound and westbound traffic using the westbound lane. Expect delays; motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes. Work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Mary Hills Drive Closure at Golden Valley Road
Mary Hills Drive will be closed at Golden Valley Road through the end of June 2026. The closure is required to reconstruct the Mary Hills Drive and Golden Valley intersection.
The detour to Mary Hills Drive and Wasatch Lane will be along Bassett Creek Drive. Bassett Creek Drive is the first intersection east of Mary Hills Drive.

Update: May 12, 2026
Work is finishing along Duluth Street west of Highway 100, with completion of work west of the highway expected in early June.
Construction along Golden Valley Road from Toledo Avenue N. to Theodore Wirth Parkway has started.
- Work initially is taking place near the Golden Valley Road/Toledo Avenue N. intersection, with crews working east toward Theodore Wirth Parkway.
- Concrete curb/gutter and sidewalk work along the north side of Golden Valley Road is expected to take place through late May.
- Motorists should watch for lane shifts on Golden Valley Road as construction transitions from the north to the south side of Golden Valley Road.
Construction is expected to continue until later this summer.

Project Details
The new paved, 10-foot-wide, off-road multi-use trail will provide safe connections to community amenities and the regional trail network.
Detailed elements of the project include:
- Construction of the Bassett Creek Regional Trail along the south side of Golden Valley Road (CSAH 66) between Regent Avenue and Theodore Wirth Parkway.
- Construction of a local trail along the north side of Duluth Street (CSAH 66) from Douglas Drive (CSAH 102) to Lilac Drive and Toledo to Regent Avenues.
- Intersection improvements where Noble Avenue and Hidden Lakes Parkway intersect with Golden Valley Road.
What to expect during the project:
- Lane shifts along the road during construction.
- New driveway aprons will be constructed where the trails cross driveways.
This segment is the last part of the planned Bassett Creek Regional Trail to be constructed, and will provide a continuous off-street paved multi-use trail from French Regional Park in Plymouth, through New Hope, Crystal and Golden Valley and connecting to the Grand Rounds Trail at Theodore Wirth Parkway.
The project is a partnership involving Three Rivers Park District, City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
