Outdoor Recreation School

The outdoor recreation school offers outdoor adventure recreation throughout Three Rivers Park District and in local communities. The school has a 25' portable rock climbing wall and offers a wide variety of outdoor lessons for youth and adults.

Adventure-based Activities

The Outdoor Recreation School specializes in adventure-based activities that promote and enhance active outdoor lifestyles and foster a greater appreciation for the natural environment. Instructors travel throughout the Park District to deliver hands-on outdoor adventure programming. Programs at a location near you are available by request. A sample of activities include:

  • Trails: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, orienteering, geocaching
  • Water: paddling, fishing
  • Other: archery, survival skills, teambuilding

Academic Standards

The Outdoor Recreation School curriculum supports certain MN K-12 Academic Standards. Review the Standards Matrix and School Programs Overview.

Lifelong memories are made at camp! Camps for kids ages 4–15 are available on topics including nature exploration, outdoor recreation, golf, fishing, farming, art and Minnesota history.

Volunteering

Three Rivers relies on the support of volunteers to maintain the high quality of our programs. No experience is necessary, and training is available. If you are interested in joining the Outdoor Recreation School team, email or call 763.694.2052.

Accessibility

Three Rivers Park District is committed to making our programs accessible. With advance notice, sign language interpreters and a wide variety of assisted technology (all-terrain wheel chairs, sound amplifiers, etc.) can be arranged. Financial assistance is available for qualifying groups.
