How do Park guests monitor weather?
Park staff is trained to monitor daily forecasts. As a responsible guest to our park system, we encourage everyone to educate themselves about weather phenomena and how quickly weather can change. There are several outdoor weather sirens located in and around the parks to alert park guests of inclement weather. In addition, Public Safety staff has provided all Visitor and Nature Centers with a weather alert radio so park employees have up-to-the-minute weather information. In the event of immediate severe weather, Public Safety staff is also available to inform park staff of dramatic weather developments. There is no substitute to being aware of your surroundings and taking safety precautions for your own well being. Do not rely on someone else to tell you to leave an area you feel may be unsafe due to high winds, extreme cold, lightning, etc.
How do I appeal a citation?
Administrative Citation: If you have been issued a Three Rivers Park District Administrative Citation and wish to contest the fine, you must contact the Park Police Officer who issued the citation. The Park Police Officer will re-issue the citation charging you with a petty misdemeanor or a misdemeanor, depending on the offense, and you will then retain all your rights to dispute the citation in the County District Court where the offense occurred. An administrative citation for a Park Ordinance is meant to be an educational tool that carries a much smaller fine than a county ticket.
County Citation: If you have been issued a county citation, you must contact the County District Court where the offense occurred.
