From 26K races with challenging hills to the non-competitive 5K fun ski and youth races, Twin Cities Orthopedics Ski Rennet presented by L.L. Bean offers something for skiers of all ages and abilities. A free, all-day party on January 11 includes family-friendly music, equipment demos, a racer village with food, and more!

Courses feature world-class trails with scenic views and 5K of manufactured snow. Options include: Boulder Nordic Sport 26K Freestyle, Gear West 26K Classic, 13K Freestyle, 13K Classic, 5K Fun Ski, 2K Para Nordic Cup, Pioneer Midwest High School 5K (held on January 17), Finn Sisu Youth Races, and 10K and 3K Skijor Races.

We strive to provide a fun, affordable event that brings all aspects of skiing through partnerships with Twin Cities Orthopedics, Minnesota Youth Ski League, Skijor USA, and many sponsors.

Registration is open. Races are held rain, snow or shine. There are no refunds for any reason, including event cancellation. There is a $20 fee for transferring to another race.

Many volunteers are needed for this race. One-time helpers are welcome.

26K Freestyle Racers

As part of the CXC Marathon Cup*, the top three overall men's and women's finishers in the 26K Freestyle will be awarded purses. Marathon Cup points will be awarded to the top 200 skiers in this race. See CXC's website for full Cup scoring information.

  • 1st: $250
  • 2nd: $150
  • 3rd: $100

Additionally, awards will be presented to the top three men's and women's finishers in each age category.

*Racers do not need to be CXC members to participate in this race or be eligible for podium dollars. 

26K Classic Racers

Awards will be presented to the overall top three men's and women's finishers as well as the top three men's and women's finishers in each age category.

13K Freestyle and Classic, 2K Para, 10K and 3K Skijor Racers

Race Village

Visit the race village to mingle with event sponsors, sign up for raffle prizes, partake in free fat bike and ski demos, and cheer on participants. Concessions will be available for purchase within the Hyland Lake Visitor Center. All are welcome!
