West Mississippi River Regional Trail Master Plan
The Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners has approved the draft master plan for the West Mississippi River Regional Trail, and the public has an opportunity to review the plan and make comments about it.
The trail route celebrates the Mississippi River’s significance within Hennepin County. It will travel approximately 20 miles adjacent to or near the river through northeastern Hennepin County, and will connect the communities of Dayton, Champlin, Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center – with the confluence of the Crow/Mississippi Rivers and the Minneapolis Grand Rounds acting as bookends.
The West Mississippi River Regional Trail will link Mississippi Gateway and North Mississippi regional parks, and the Rush Creek, Medicine Lake and Twin Lakes regional trails. Once the future Crow River Regional Trail is built, trail users will be able to travel along the northern border of Hennepin County entirely on off-road trails.
