Baker/Carver Regional Trail: Acquisition

The Baker/Carver Regional Trail Master Plan was approved June 2015. The proposed Baker/Carver Regional Trail measures approximately 17 miles from Carver Park Reserve in Carver County through the cities of Minnetrista, Independence and Maple Plain and terminates at Baker Park Reserve in Hennepin County. The trail will connect to the Minnesota River Bluffs LRT, Dakota Rail and Lake Independence Regional Trails, the Luce Line State Trail, Kingswood Special Recreation Feature, and Gale Woods Farm - linking people to regional parks and other local and regional destinations.

Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park: Master Plan Development

Three Rivers Park District and the City of Brooklyn Park have developed a joint master plan for Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park and the Brooklyn Park Environmental Nature Area. A master plan lays out the long-term plan for the park and includes identifying future recreation development, natural and cultural resource protection goals, and associated costs. Development of a master plan includes an extensive public engagement process which allows community members to participate in shaping the park’s vision and development concept.

Crow River Regional Trail: Master Plan

Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners has released the Crow River Regional Trail (CRRT) Master Plan for public review. Written comments will be taken from November 21, 2016 – January 6, 2017. The proposed CRRT will expand recreational access to the Crow River – providing multiple opportunities along its 32-mile corridor to ‘touch the river.’ The CRRT’s proposed route stretches from the Luce Line State Trail in Watertown Township to the West Mississippi River Regional Trail in Dayton, connecting Carver, Hennepin and Wright counties through the communities of Minnetrista, Independence, Franklin Township, Delano, Greenfield, Rockford, Rockford Township, Hanover, Rogers, and Otsego.

Rush Creek Regional Trail: Acquisition Plan

The Rush Creek Regional Trail Master Plan was approved in May 2008. The master plan calls for extending the regional trail west from Elm Creek Park Reserve to Crow-Hassan Park Reserve and includes provisions for acquiring adjacent land with high natural resource value. West Mississippi River Regional Trail Master Plan

Extending nearly 15 miles, the West Mississippi River Regional Trail expounds upon complementary planning and tourism initiatives happening concurrently within the Mississippi River corridor such as the Great River Road, a national scenic byway, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) Minnesota River Trail (MRT) Bikeway route. This Hennepin County segment of the much larger network aims to provide an exclusively off-road trail experience, which in turn provides a safe and enjoyable recreation and non-motorized transportation option for users regardless of ability. Part of a multi-state trail network adjacent to the Mississippi River, this proposed portion of the West Mississippi River Regional Trail traverses the western banks of the river from Dayton to Brooklyn Center through the cities of Champlin and Brooklyn Park.
