Five Tips for Living Near Black Bears

While many people think black bears are solely residents of the Minnesota Northwoods, growing bear populations have them moving farther and farther south. In fact, their range now reaches as far south as Anoka and Washington counties. In recent years, there’s even been an increase in sightings in northern Hennepin County, including in our own Elm Creek Park Reserve. And it's this time of year that these sightings are most common.

Fox 9's Good Day Minnesota Visits Gale Woods Farm

Shayne Wells of Fox 9's Good Day Minnesota paid a visit to Three Rivers Park District to check out the adorable baby boom at Gale Woods Farm. Watch their video to see a group of preschoolers greet and pet the 42 new lambs with more on the way. 

Three Rivers Conducts Prescribed Burns

March 21, 2024

Three Rivers Park District will begin spring prescribed fires in April and continue until early June. Burns will take place in a number of parks, with much of the activity occurring in Crow-Hassan, Carver, Murphy-Hanrehan, Hyland and Elm Creek park reserves. The timing of the burns in each park will vary depending on wind and weather conditions; exact dates cannot be given more than 48 hours prior to the burn. Burns will mainly be conducted between mid-morning and early evening, Monday through Friday.
