Three Rivers Receives Environmental Initiative Award

March 25, 2019

Three Rivers Park District is honored to receive the Minnesota Environmental Initiative’s 2019 Environmental Innovation Award for the Climate Conversations program series. This award is given annually by Minnesota Environmental Initiative for partnerships fostering environmental breakthroughs in Minnesota.

Presented in partnership with Climate Generation: A Will Steger Legacy, Climate Conversations is a two-year series highlighting how parks and natural resources are impacted by our changing climate.  Each Climate Conversation is tailored to the host park’s theme, featuring the latest climate science presented alongside stories of how climate change affects people’s lives and solutions workshops led by resource experts.

“We’re honored to receive this award for Climate Conversations,” said Three Rivers Park District Superintendent Boe Carlson. “Our mission is environmental stewardship, and these events have provided great opportunities for dialogue and better understanding as we prepare for the future.”

“This recognition embodies our engagement model of building climate literacy, strong advocates, and elevating the leadership of our partners,” said Climate Generation Executive Director Nicole Rom. “We couldn’t be more proud of the leadership that Three Rivers has shown in addressing climate change in a positive, solutions focused, and collaborative manner; they are engaging the communities where we work and play and collectively imagining a better future.”

The next Climate Conversation will be at Hyland Hills Ski Area on November 7, followed by Eastman Nature Center in the spring of 2020.
