Aerators To Be Installed on Area Lakes

November 26, 2024

Aerator Installation to Occur After Dec. 16, 2024

Three Rivers Park District will be operating aeration systems this winter in Lake Rebecca, Cleary Lake, Murphy Lake and Hyland Lake after Dec. 16, 2024.

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District will be operating aeration systems in North Lundsten Lake, South Lundsten Lake and Mud Lake (adjacent to Carver Park Reserve) after Dec. 16, 2024.

The Purpose of Aeration in Winter Lake Management

These aeration systems are used to keep fish alive by ensuring they receive sufficient oxygen. Aeration will continue until ice-off conditions in 2025.

Be Aware of the Danger of Open Water or Thin Ice

Operation of the aeration systems may result in unsafe ice conditions on portions of the lakes for the duration of the winter.

Anyone using the lakes should be aware of the danger of open water or thin ice
