Fish Lake Regional Park

Fish Lake Regional Park offers outdoor recreation in a wooded, lakeside setting. Water enthusiasts enjoy swimming, boating or ice fishing on Fish Lake. You’ll also find picnic areas and a rental pavilion. This park is especially scenic in the fall, when blazing maples reflect on the lake, creating a picturesque setting for your outdoor activities.

Fish Lake offers turf trails for snowshoeing and hiking in winter. Dog owners enjoy year-round exercise with paved trails and a fully-fenced dog off-leash area.

Three miles of trails

A paved trail circles the central hill and continues along the central marsh and back to the beach area. The paved trails connect to the popular Medicine Lake Regional Trail.

Boat Launch

Limited parking spaces are available for those launching watercraft; a daily or annual trailer parking pass is required.

Kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards, and a SUP Squatch (6-10 person paddleboard) are available to rent in the summer. Learn more on our paddling page.

Dog Trails - Off Leash

The park offers a seven-acre off-leash haven for your four-legged friends to run at top speed. Dog owners must pick-up after their dog. A daily or annual pass is required for the off-leash area.

Dogs are allowed on paved and trails with a six-foot, non-retractable leash. Dog owners must pick-up after their dog.

With over a mile of shoreline and an accessible fishing pier, there are lots of places to seek your catch of the day. The park is also a great place to access the lake for ice fishing in the winter. A valid Minnesota fishing license is required.

Geocaching is a family-friendly, high-tech treasure hunt that combines respect for the environment with a sense of adventure. This activity involves placing or looking for a cache using global positioning system (GPS) equipment.

3.3 miles of trails

A year-round paved trail circles the central hill and continues along the central marsh and back to the beach area. A paved, 0.7-mile Trails at Your Pace trail along the peninsula provides fabulous views of Fish Lake and features flat terrain and two rest stops. Turf hiking trails wind through hilly, wooded and marsh areas. The paved trails connect to the popular Medicine Lake Regional Trail.

Bring your own boat or rent a kayak, canoe, stand-up paddleboard, or SUP Squatch (6-10 person paddleboard). Limited parking spaces are available for those launching watercraft; a daily or annual trailer parking pass is required.

Watercraft rentals are available from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day every year. Boats can be reserved online up to seven days in advance or in person. Reserving online is encouraged to ensure availability. Reserve a boat.

Picnic tables and grills located throughout the park and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The pavilion is available to rent year-round.

Bring your snowshoes and head off the beaten path to some of the more remote areas of the park. The trail meanders up the west side of the lake and a past wetland area.

Closed for the season

Get a refreshing retreat from the summer's heat at the sandy beach on Fish Lake. No lifeguard on duty. The swimming beach is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 9 AM–8 PM daily.

Nature School is an outdoor-based preschool program for children ages 4-6. Led by Three Rivers, it provides the freedom to explore and play in nature, fostering a lifelong connection to the natural world! 

Rental Spaces

The pavilion at Fish Lake is great for smaller wedding receptions, corporate events and birthday parties. For added fun, hike/bike trails and a swimming beach are nearby.
