Three Rivers Purchases Land For Future Regional Trails

June 25, 2019

Three Rivers Park District has purchased three properties in suburban Hennepin County that will be part of future regional trail corridors.

Two of the properties the Park District recently purchased are located in Minnetrista, and will be part of the future Baker-Carver Regional Trail. The Baker-Carver Regional Trail will connect Baker Park Reserve, Kingswood Park, Gale Woods Farm, Carver Park Reserve and the Luce Line State Trail.

The other property is located in Maple Grove and will be part of the future Rush Creek Regional Trail corridor connecting Elm Creek and Crow-Hassan park reserves. The Rush Creek Regional Trail presently runs from Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove east to Mississippi Gateway Regional Park in Brooklyn Park. Future plans call for extending the trail west across northern Hennepin County to Crow-Hassan Park Reserve in Rogers.

The purchases were partially funded by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund as recommended by the Legislativeā€Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR). The remainder of the purchase price was funded by Metropolitan Council bond proceeds and Three Rivers Park District.
