Three Rivers Golf Pro Named LPGA Midwest Section Teacher of the Year

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has named Laura Patrick, of Three Rivers Park District, as the 2019 Midwest Section Teacher of the Year. One of six regional winners, Patrick is now eligible for National Teacher of the Year Honors.

Patrick has worked as a teaching professional for the Golf Academy of Three Rivers Park District at Baker National Golf Course in Medina since 2003. In addition to teaching, Patrick is the co-site director for an LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Chapter and is the volunteer coordinator for The First Tee of Three Rivers Park District. 

As the lead golf instructor at Baker National Golf Course, Patrick averages approximately 290 hours of private instruction each year, teaching golfers from ages 4 through 93. She also teaches 40 classes and camps a year that create a pathway to learning for golfers at various stages in their careers. Each of Patrick’s learning programs is created with an emphasis on forming relationships, developing a love for the game, and building golf skills. Due to Patrick’s enthusiastic commitment to growing the game, Baker National Golf Course has become one of the premiere locations in the Twin Cities to learn and improve. Students often drive over an hour to participate in her programs or to take private lessons.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition,” Patrick said. “I strive to create lesson programs that get people excited about playing golf while using a variety of teaching methods based on the needs of my students. My goal is to create a learning environment where people feel comfortable and walk away with a greater understanding of their own game without feeling overwhelmed.”
