The Importance of Water Safety Education

Learning how to stay safe around water is important for keeping our communities healthy. It gives people the knowledge and skills to feel comfortable in and around the water and respond in emergencies.

Community liaisons and partners have told us that water safety education can be hard to find. We're working to fix that by creating more chances for families to learn about water safety together.

What We've Learned From The Community About Water Safety

Through our work with underrepresented groups, we have heard that swimming and water safety are top activities of interest. Even though there’s strong interest, many people in the community have shared that they face barriers that make it hard to take part in water safety programs. This has created a sense of urgency and shows there may be an important role for Three Rivers Park District to play.
