Whether you're exploring, learning or just soaking in the beauty, the newly constructed Gateway Center is a great place to start your day at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park.
The beautiful new building boasts a wrap-around deck that leads to the Treetop Trail, offering breathtaking views of the Mississippi River.
It also serves as the perfect hub to access the rest of the park's many amenities, including an observation deck, nature-based play areas, accessible walkways and more.

Learn About the Gateway Center
The Gateway Center at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park is your perfect starting point for exploring nature and outdoor fun!
- The Treetop Trail
The building features a wrap-around deck that leads to the Treetop Trail, offering stunning bird's-eye views of the Mississippi River and the surrounding landscape.
- Interactive Exhibits
Inside, you’ll find interactive exhibits about the river, along with cozy seating areas to unwind before or after your adventure. The Gateway Center truly serves as the park’s heart, with convenient restrooms, tasty concessions and exciting educational programs for all ages.
- Accessible Walkways
From there, accessible trails wind through the park, offering breathtaking views of the river, floodplain forests, wetlands and even a walkway that stretches over the impressive Coon Rapids Dam. Whether you’re hiking, learning, or simply enjoying the scenery, this is the place to connect with the outdoors!
- Natural Play Areas
The new natural play areas are carefully designed spaces created to encourage free play in the outdoors. Kids and adults can explore the forest, build forts and exercise their creativity.
- Backpack Kits
Backpack kits are available, free of charge, for individuals and groups visiting the park. Topics are trees, birds, insects and the Mississippi River. Kits may include binoculars, fun family activities, identification books, insect nets and more!
Discover the world of birding in the Young Birders Club! Learn all about native birds, and attend programs and events at the Gateway Center.
This program is open to ages 9-12.
Nature School is an outdoor-based preschool program led by Three Rivers at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park for children ages 4-6.
It provides the freedom to explore and play in nature, fostering a lifelong connection to the natural world, and promoting the development of our next generation of environmental stewards!
Looking for a special experience for your group?
The professional naturalists at the Gateway Center offer a wide variety of outdoor educational programs for schools, scouts, community groups, senior centers, homeschools and other groups.
Wild Birthday Parties are offered year-round and are appropriate for children age four and older. Nature-based topics range from studying critters like pond insects and birds to snowshoeing adventures looking for live animals.
Volunteers
Three Rivers relies on the support of volunteers to maintain the high quality programs and operations at Mississippi Gateway Center.
