Call for Gallery Proposals
Silverwood Park is seeking proposals for the 2016 gallery season. Three exhibitions will be chosen for the gallery in the Visitor Center. Learn more about the park and how to submit your proposal during our info session on February 17 from 6-7 PM. Deadline: March 30, 2015. See proposal details.
Exhibit: Collected and Contained
Silverwood Park is pleased to announce the opening of Collected and Contained. This exhibition features the work of Chelsea Kelly and Lynda Monick-Isenberg. Artists Chelsea Kelly and Lynda Monick-Isenberg share a strong connection to the natural world. Each artist collects materials often unseen or overlooked in daily life and then offers them back to us for consideration. In her jewelry and small sculpture, Kelly assembles and encases nature, giving it permanence. Much like a scientist, Monick-Isenberg first sorts and then expertly renders her specimens, creating new systems from which to see the world. Collected and Contained invites viewers to examine and search for meaning, understanding, and appreciation in the world around us. Please join us for the closing reception on March 1 from 2–4 PM. The exhibition is on view from Jan. 8–Feb. 28.
Exhibit: Lyrical Structures
Artists Keren Kroul and Asako Nakauchi work in distinctively different ways but both employ small, repetitive units to create organic structures. Through watercolor on paper, Kroul builds compositions using marks, lines, and shapes. Intricate structures or “worlds” result simultaneously suggesting expansion and disintegration. Nakauchi makes work almost exclusively with salvaged or discarded materials. She challenges herself to discover the potential of her materials to invoke beauty and raise awareness through repetition of form. Lyrical Structures invites viewers to examine structure and beauty present in our lives. Join artists Keren Kroul and Asako Nakauchi on Thursday, March 12, from 6–8 p.m. at Silverwood Park for a gallery opening reception. The exhibition Lyrical Structures is on view March 12–April 30 at the Silverwood Gallery.
