The Outdoor Recreation School is based at the Field Operation Center at French Regional Park. Instructors travel throughout the Park District delivering hands-on outdoor adventure programming. Outreach programming is available by request.
The Outdoor Recreation School specializes in adventure-based activities which are offered either in our park or at a location near you. A sample of activities include:
Slopes: downhill skiing and snowboarding
Trails: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, orienteering, geocaching
Water: canoeing, kayaking, fishing
Other: archery, survival skills, golfing, team building
The School houses a challenge course and a 25’ climbing wall and is located adjacent to hiking trails, cross-country ski trails and regional bike trails. It's a short hike away from the French Park play area, picnic rental facilities and nature exploration area.
Three Rivers Park District is committed to making our programs accessible. With advance notice, we can arrange for sign language interpreters and a wide variety of assisted technology (all-terrain wheel chairs, sound amplifiers, etc.). Financial assistance is available for qualifying groups.

In addition to providing skill-based adventure programming for schools, youth agencies, adults and corporate clients, ORS provides summer camps and cross-country ski lessons for able bodied and adaptive skiers.
We rely on the additional support of volunteers to maintain the high quality of our programs. If you are interested in becoming part or our ORS team, please contact us.
