Looking for a special experience for your group? The professional naturalists at Lowry Nature Center can customize outdoor education programs for your school group, scout troop, senior center, home school group or other organized group. Aquatic studies, insect programs, animal adaptations, birding, live raptors, snowshoeing, and maple syruping are some of our most popular options and we can customize a program to meet the specific needs and interests of your group. Programs are generally two hours in length and cost depends on the number or participants.
We offer standards-based school programs for grades pre-K through 12. These interactive programs frequently incorporate math, language or art activities. Young students use their senses to explore the park and older students engage in scientific experimentation, measuring water quality, calculating the age or trees and classifying fish. Pre- or post-visit material is available for many of our programs.
Three Rivers Park District is committed to making our programs accessible. With advance notice, we can arrange for sign language interpreters and a wide variety of assisted technology (all-terrain wheel chairs, sound amplifiers, etc.). Financial assistance is available for qualifying groups.
We can bring a program to you!
Lowry Nature Center’s naturalists are also able to bring the resources of the Nature Center directly into your school, library, local park or other meeting site for a program either inside or outside. Popular topics include raptors, live reptiles and amphibians, birds, snowshoeing, and animal adaptations. We can customize a program to meet the needs and interests of your group.
Program fees are based on group size and length of program (per hour). We can present programs for small classrooms, large auditorium groups, and can also host a booth at your event with hands-on activities that your participants can visit at their leisure.
