2012 Distinguished Volunteers Honored
April 10, 2012

In recognition of their outstanding contributions to Three Rivers Park District, six volunteers have been awarded the Park District’s Distinguished Volunteer Service Award.

2012 Distinguished Volunteers"The Distinguished Volunteer Service Award is a way to acknowledge outstanding representatives of our dedicated park volunteers,” says Deb Vosler, volunteer coordinator for the Park District. “In 2011, 784 volunteers donated more than 31,938 hours to programs and services within the park system. We simply would not be able to deliver the number of high-quality programs and services to the public without them.”

This year’s six Distinguished Volunteer Service Award recipients have contributed more than 4,323 hours of volunteer service to the Park District, with 675 hours of that during 2011 alone. The 2012 recipients are:

  • Bev Anderson, Bloomington, for her contributions as a Park Patroller at Hyland Lake Park Reserve and as a Natural Resources Monitor.
  • Betty Magnuson, Hopkins, for her contributions as an event volunteer and volunteer Office Assistant at Lowry Nature Center.
  • Sarah Reinke, Minneapolis, for her contributions as a Cultural Heritage Program Interpreter at The Landing-Minnesota River Heritage Park.

  • Kathy Smith, Minneapolis, for her contributions as Project Specialist and Program Interpreter at Richardson Nature Center.
  • Terry Spohn, Maple Grove, for his contributions as an Alpine Ski Patroller at Hyland Ski & Snowboard Area and Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area.
