Lake Independence Regional Trail Nears Completion
December 29, 2009
Trail construction for the Lake Independence Regional Trail is underway. The trail segment between the maintenance driveway and Maple Street is open. The regional trail segment from Maple Street north to Trunk Highway 55 is under construction and closed to the public. Work remaining includes paving and minor grading. This segment is anticipated to open summer of 2010.
This is part of a multi-phase project and partnership with Hennepin County. When complete, the Lake Independence Regional Trail will connect Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, Baker Park Reserve, and the Luce Line State Trail. The 10’-wide paved regional trail will support walking, jogging, hiking, dog-walking, inline skating and bicycling.
