John was first elected by voters of the 5th Commissioner District in 2010. In November of 2012, he was re-elected to serve a four-year term on the Three Rivers Park District Board of Commissioners.
A resident of Bloomington for nearly 40 years, John enjoys biking and in-line skating on Three Rivers Park District’s regional trails and park trails within Hyland-Bush-Anderson Lakes Park Reserve. A member of the Minneapolis Ski Club, he also cross-country skis at Hyland and Elm Creek Park Reserves.
John is employed as a vice president for Comcast. Earlier in his career, he was a partner in the law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi. He serves on the boards of the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts and the Center of the American Experiment. Prior to his election to the Three Rivers Board, John was a member of the Hennepin County Library Board. He also is active in the Minnesota Police Pipe Band.
My favorite place at Three Rivers
Hyland Lake Park Reserve is my favorite place in Three Rivers Park District because it provides something for everyone in all seasons of the year. I love to bike and in-line skate on the paved trails and cross-country ski there in the winter. My kids learned to ski at Hyland Ski and Snowboard Area and took field trips to Richardson Nature Center. It’s an amazing place because you can immerse yourself in nature even though you’re just minutes from some of the busiest places in the metro area.
John's term expires December 31, 2016.
